WHAT HAPPENS WHEN JUDGES FORGET THEIR JOBS

Big Lizards has another terrific article, this one about what one lowly county judge in Iowa did to the Iowa state legislature. Judge Robert Hanson overturned a nine-year old Iowa law and went against the opinion of a majority of Iowans and said that same sex marriage is permissible in Iowa, basically because he feels compassion for gays who cannot wed. Seems to me the Judge's job in this case was merely to determine whether the law that has been in existence in Iowa for nine years is valid. Nothing else. This is what happens when we get activist judges. They forget what their job is.
