MCCAIN TO ACCEPT PUBLIC FUNDS

Is this a sign of desperate times for Senator John McCain's campaign? On Tuesday McCain became the first presidential candidate to qualify for public funds. This action will quickly put him at a disadvantage since it would cap at about $50 million the amount of cash his campaign can spend during the primary. McCain's camp will try to spin it as a prudent thing to do, but in reality, if his campaign wasn't in trouble they would never have considered accepting public funds.
