IS THE BATTLE ABOUT TO BEGIN?

Politico has a story today talking about the likelihood of the coming Congressional showdown. The name of the story "Congressional showdown likely soon", implies that the media is anticipating a monumental battle between Republicans and Democrats over issues like the Iraq war, the powers of the President, executive privilege, government spending. I suspect that in the end the Democrats will back down or face vetoes on many of the bills that they would like to have enacted. They don't have the votes to override most of those vetoes, and therefore run the risk of appearing weak and ineffective to their liberal base. It should be an interesting fall and winter.
