Nato Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer says a number of alliance members have offered more resources for the military campaign in Afghanistan. That is certainly good news for the United States, but one that I haven't seen reported in the MSM.
Britain has complained to China that Chinese-made weapons are being used by the Taliban to attack troops in Afghanistan. China has promised to investigate. Many experts believe that the weapons are coming to the Taliban through Iran. It will be interesting to see how far the Chinese investigation goes. Another article provided by River West.

By now almost everyone has red about Afghanistan cultivating 193,000 hectares of opium poppies. So our experts are trying to figure out what we can do to turn this horrible situation into a good situation for the free world. The most prevalent idea I have heard is that the United States or major pharmaceutical companies should buy the opium crop and use it to make legitimate medications. Sounds like a good idea. WRONG. According to Ambassador Thomas Schweich, licensing farmers to grow legalized opium puts Afghanistan in danger of becoming a narco-welfare state. Interesting.
