I have created this blog with one basic idea in mind. To share with you my thoughts and interests, and to begin a civil discourse on the important and interesting issues of our time. The name Musings of a Whiskey Rebel comes from one of the most famous events to take place in the Western Pennsylvania region that I call home. The Whiskey Rebellion started in 1791 and finally was ended by President George Washington in 1794, when he sent 13,000 members of the militia to quell a rebellion by farmers in Allegheny and Washington County who objected to the imposition of a tax on whiskey and other alcohol.
