David Brooks is one of my favorite columnists. He has a terrific op-ed in The New York Times about the Hamiltonian Ground. Mr. Brooks points out that the Republican Presidential candidates seem to have forgotten the Hamilton principles that they should be following, instead of adhering to pandering to certain factions. I think they should all read this article.

I don't know how anyone else feels about Ron Paul's candidacy for President, but I view him as an annoying distraction. His strident shouting at each debate takes away from the focus that we all need to have on serious issues. Tom Bevan has a really good article about Dr. Paul's criticism of the use of the term "Islamic fascism."

John McCain has outlined his proposals for health care reform. From the sounds of it, he has ideas closer to what I believe we need than any other candidate that I have heard. The Senator's major idea would give an individual a refundable tax credit of $2500 and $5000 for families. The part of his plan that I really like is the idea that he would permit people to purchase policies across state lines. That would be so advantageous for the average consumer.

Interesting article. British scientists say they have solved a century-old evolutionary question: what makes a fish and a human embryo evolve differently?

According to Robert Novak, this week reform-minded conservative Republicans will introduce the most sweeping tax plan since Jack Kemp's three decades ago. Their idea would establish a radically simplified, flatter tax for an estimated 90 percent to 95 percent of all income tax filers.

Peter Brown has an article in the Politico that I totally disagree with, but it's worth reading just to see how far to the left the media and the Democrats have shifted.

Congressional Democrats have put on the back burner legislation ordering troops home from Iraq and are turning their attention to war related proposals that Republicans are finding hard to reject. Do you think the Democrats are frustrated?

Giuliani and Romney focused on each other during the Republican debate and made it apparent that they are trying to turn the Republican race into a two man race. Wonder what Huckabee, Thompson and McCain have to say about that?

A U.S. federal court judge on Wednesday blocked a key part of the bush administration's stepped-up efforts to crack down on illegal immigrant workers and those who employ them. This is the same liberal Judge who has already blocked the Social Security Administration from sending out 140,000 letters to employers with 8 million employees whose names did not match their numbers.

First Lady Laura Bush has written an op-ed about what is going on in Burma. As Mrs. Bush points out although the generals' reign of fear has subdued the protests for now this is not 1988. Today everyone knows about the regimes atrocities.

I think we all knew this would happen. Three little words and the earmarks reform bill is of no value. Those three little words "no pecuniary interest". No name identity. Just three words to protect the Senators. Townhall.com has the full story.
