SECOND AMENDMENT SHOWDOWN

The Wall Street Journal thinks that this case before the United States Supreme Court will define once and for all the rights of individuals to own firearms under the Second Amendment. I think, like so many cases decided by the Supreme Court, it will only muddy the waters.

Ruben Navarrette has an interesting article about Clarence Thomas. I suspect that his point is more valid than anything you will read about Justice Thomas. He ends the article by saying "Personally, I'm glad Clarence Thomas is angry. And the rest of us should be ashamed."

JUSTICE THOMAS WRITES AUTOBIOGRAPHY

After 16 years Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has written his autobiography called "My Grandfather's Son". The book will go on sale Monday. Among the points that Justice Thomas makes is that Anita Hill was a mediocre employee who was used by his political opponents. Thomas says that during the time that Hill worked for him, the only complaint she made to him was about his refusal to promote her. This should be a book worth reading.

Reading this article makes me appreciate all over again how lucky the Republicans were that President Bush nominated two strong Conservatives in John Roberts and Sam Alito, and that Bill Frist used all of his skills in getting them confirmed
